ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: searching for two Part-Time Research Associate to work in the Determination of Antimicrobial Functionality of Orange Pomace Extracts Grant (CPPF #008010), College of Agriculture, under the supervision of Dr. Yao Olive Li, Principal Investigator
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The research associate will assist to develop qualitative and semi-quantitative microbiological protocols to determine the antimicrobial properties of orange pomace and its crude extracts, and will also help to conduct polyphenol extraction experiments under a graduate student. It is expected that the research associate is responsible to organize and analyze research results and to present them to the PI, write periodical reports on the progress of the project, and present the results in the venues appropriate to the project dissemination purpose.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be enrolled in the Food Science and Technology major or minor, with completion of Food Microbiology lecture and lab course.
PREFERRED:
Undergraduate with junior or senior standing. Completed BIO 3640/L at a grade B or above. Completion of other FST or BIO junior or senior courses are preferred. Have research experience. Have experience presenting research in scientific conferences. Must be willing to complete training in relation to laboratory safety.
