WHIN is currently seeking a high performing Student Recruitment and Family/Community Coordinator who is ready to help grow a unique school community where compassion, kindness, and curiosity drive each and every day.

Specifically, the Student Recruitment and Family/Community Coordinator is responsible for:

Student Recruitment:

· Work closely with the Director of Operations and Executive Director to secure at least 600 student applications annually.

· Build relationships with feeder programs, conduct outreach and organize meetings with daycares, community-based organizations (CBO’s), community influencers, school staff, and families.

· Organize, schedule and attend recruitment fairs, school tours, and community events while promoting WHIN.

· Plan, schedule, and conduct open houses, student tours, and new student and family orientations.

· Create promotional material to attract new families.

· Maintain the school’s database of daycares, events and advertisers.

· Create and manage a team of current parents and staff to act as recruitment ambassadors.

Lottery and Enrollment:

· Manage Schoolmint applications system including registration of new students, communicating with families, following up with families missing documentation and internal reporting.

· Manage the school’s enrollment process in its entirety including notify families when their application in received, conduct regular outreach to applicants, run the lottery and offer seats to parents after the lottery.

· Actively manage the waitlist on an ongoing basis to ensure WHIN is fully backfilling any potential empty seats

· Meet with families individually to assist in the registration and enrollment process.

· In collaboration with the school’s Operations team, plan prospective student and family events throughout the school year.

Family and Community Coordination:

· Create a warm and welcoming school environment for all stakeholders.

· Create and send monthly family newsletters detailing key highlights and upcoming events.

· Create and send monthly community newsletters detailing key highlights and upcoming events.

· Track and report daily student attendance and communicate any attendance concerns with families in a timely manner.

· Plan and coordinate school and community events including monthly parent meetings

· Liaise with the WHIN Home School Association (HSA) on parent activities.

· Build relationships with local organizations including CBO’s, community groups, churches, media outlets, and other schools.

· Manage the school’s digital presence and post on the school’s social media channels daily.

· With the Principal, manage the NYC Kids Rise program.

Operational Support:

· Support office staff by answering phones, late student arrival and early student pickup and other schoolwide duties.

· Other additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications for the Student Recruitment and Family/Community Coordinator positions is:

  • A bachelor degree or relevant experience.

  • Ability to work nontraditional hours to attend occasional evening and weekend events.

Advanced proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Music performance
