Cardenas Markets is seeking a retail Store Director to join our team and participate in our Store Director in Training Program. Our Store Director in Training program offers the candidate the unique ability to work in various departments within the store for approximately six to eight weeks. Upon completion of the training program, you will work alongside the Store Director as the Acting Store Director and have responsibility for the overall operation and profitability of the store. You will work with department managers providing leadership and ensuring that Team Members are supervised, and that the entire store staff is well-trained and productive. The Store Director in Training will be responsible for continuously evaluating all departments and coaching department managers to maximize each department’s contribution to the store’s overall success.

This position will train in various store departments such as Bakery, Deli, Meat, Grocery, Produce, and the Front End, and develop an understanding of all opening and closing procedures for all departments. Upon successful completion of the training program, this position will ultimately provide leadership and direction to all Team Members as a Store Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for learning all facets of store operations including inventory levels, store conditions, loss prevention, store financials, and security issues;
• Work with corporate management, department managers, Team Members, trainers, merchandisers, and vendors in driving sales while ensuring high levels of customer service;
• Promote sales objectives with proper merchandising and training of Team Members;
• Conduct and lead store meetings to discuss goals, sales, ads, and strategies to ensure store success;
• Promote effective communication with customers and Team Members that encourages teamwork and high levels of engagement;
• Maintain health and safety standards to ensure well-being of all customers and Team Members;
• Ensure company policies are followed by all Team Members and vendors;
• Interview candidates and complete onboarding and orientation process for new Team Members;
• Effectively communicate policy changes, announcements, and/or standards to all Team Members;
• Train, coach and develop store management;
• Ensure all departments are properly staffed with Team Members thoroughly trained in all aspects of their job; and
• Other duties as necessary.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Prior Store Director experience at a grocery store required;
• Strong management experience;
• Strong understanding of all phases of grocery store operations;
• Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and communication skills;
• Ability to develop and achieve sales and production goals;
• Ability to deal with conflict resolution;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to monitor sales and labor levels;
• Proficiency in MS Office.

LIFTING: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.;
