Job Summary:


The Colorado School of Public Health (ColoradoSPH) has an opening for a full-time position at the rank of Senior Professional Research Assistant (Sr. PRA).

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health seeks a full-time senior professional research assistant (Sr. PRA) with an interest in environmental health, social sciences, and social justice to join our diverse team of researchers. The incumbent will work closely with Dr. Katherine Dickinson, an Assistant Professor with a background in environmental economics. Dr. Dickinson’s research projects examine climate change and environmental justice, with a focus on engaging communities and decision-makers around actions to enhance resilience.

The Sr. PRA will serve as the project coordinator for an interdisciplinary, community-engaged research study focused on measuring climate change and air quality concerns, beliefs, behaviors, information sources, assets, and desires to enhance resilience and equity in select urban and rural communities in Colorado. Candidates should have a strong background in project management and administration, have strong organization, communication, writing, and problem-solving skills, and an interest in health equity and environmental justice.

The Sr. PRA will be supervised by Dr. Katherine Dickinson, Assistant Professor.

Examples of Work Performed

  • Project coordination, including:
    • Scheduling meetings, taking minutes, and preparing meeting materials
    • Preparing and updating institutional review board (IRB) protocols
    • Managing subawards to community-based organization(s), including timely project payments
  • Community engagement:
    • Coordinating community engagement activities and recruitment of project advisory board members
    • Traveling to field sites in Colorado as needed for community-engagement events and collaborator meetings.
  • Qualitative data collection and analysis:
    • Assist with collection of qualitative data through community meetings, focus groups, interviews, and surveys.
    • Design databases and qualitative data management procedures
    • Conduct thematic analysis of qualitative data.
    • Conduct literature reviews.
    • Prepare manuscripts and reports.

Qualifications:


Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Master’s Degree in social sciences, public health or relevant field
  • At least 4 years of experience in research and/or project management
  • Experience working with diverse communities and collaborators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting community-engaged research or advocacy.
  • Experience with conducting focus groups, interviews, or social surveys
  • Experience with qualitative data analysis software
  • Grant writing experience
  • Experience preparing institutional review board (IRB) protocols.
  • Experience managing a research project.

  • Independent decision-making and the ability to manage a variety of projects effectively.

Anticipated Pay Range:


The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$65,000 – $75,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
