PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for a geographic area within the service territory. Oversees the execution and coordination of the Substation Construction and Maintenance work plan. Develops and implements effective strategic and tactical business and labor initiatives that are linked to business goals and objectives. Develops and maintains an environment that promotes employee safety, diversity and high productivity. Departmental activities include the planning, scheduling and execution of construction, maintenance, overhaul, repair, and emergent response of high voltage substation apparatus, transformers, circuit breakers, and ancillary equipment. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Drives and oversees the development and implementation of short and long term strategic and tactical business and labor initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelon's safety, environmental, reliability and performance goals. Assures timely response to storms and other system emergencies. (30%)
- Manages the regional budget. Establishes and monitors business plans and business unit objectives. Balances cost control with appropriate capital and maintenance investments. (30%)
- Develops and maintains an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Leads the management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assures timely recognition of employee contributions. Develops methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. (15%)
- Provides leadership to and development of the management team. Provides accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conducts performance planning and appraisals. Identifies opportunities for growth and learning. Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. (15%)
- Establishes, maintains and improves relationships with other departments in Exelon, the regional operating companies and the local communities. (10%)

- Responsible for the safe work performance of an organization with a total of 74-102 employees, consisting of 8-12 supervisors, 1 professional, 6-7 clerical, and 58-82 craft.
- Responsible for a region of the company's electric substation assets covering a region within the service territory of 11,000 square miles including 3,100,000 customers.
- Responsible for executing a collective bargaining agreement, implementing labor strategies, and negotiating elevated grievance hearings and arbitrations.
- Responsible for sponsoring and justifying capital improvement projects and then executing and supporting approved substation projects of $22 - $36 million per year.
- Provides input into maintenance planning and is responsible for executing $7-$15 million of preventive, corrective, and reliability maintenance expenditures associated with 105 Transmission and Distribution Substations.
- Responsible for the environmental stewardship of substation equipment and facilities in an effort to minimize the impact on the surrounding community and natural resources.
- Responsible for the organization's response to emergent activities, catastrophic events and storms.
- Responsible for the substation maintenance associated with non-Exelon generating plants. This includes emergency & planned outage support of electrical equipment.
- Actions have direct impact on safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction goals, the transmission revenue stream, the generation revenue stream of Exelon, and the public, political, and regulatory opinion of the company.
- Establishes performance goals and expectations, coaches, mentors and provides feedback to direct reports.
- Maintains effective internal business controls by conducting audits, self-assessments, investigations and employee reviews.
- Builds strategic alignment with senior management, Exelon Nuclear & key management peers (DSO, TSO, C&M, P&CM, AM&E), T&S associates and union leadership.
- Other external contacts include co-generation and other key customers, substation equipment vendors, regulators, auditors and various municipal authorities (fire, police, city mayors, etc). Direct Reports: 8-12 Indirect Reports: 65 - 90 Total Budget: $13-$48 M PECO

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience - At least 10 years of industry experience, including 3-5 years in an electric T&D supervisory and/or managerial position.
- In lieu of degree, 12-15 years relevant experience.
- Certifications/Licenses Valid driver's license
- Knowledge - Demonstrated knowledge of T&D operating, maintenance & construction work practices, utility collective bargaining agreements and understanding of regulatory issues.
- Skills Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, build consensus, establish trust, and foster culture change. Demonstrated ability to support and enforce safe work behaviors; this requires working knowledge of safety rules and work practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education - Graduate degree or Graduate Level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience Electric industry background in the construction, maintenance and troubleshooting of transmission & substation equipment and systems.
- Certifications/Licenses Professional Engineer's license.
- Knowledge In-depth technical understanding of transmission and substation components and system protection devices and schemes. Familiarity with the collective bargaining agreement.
- Skills Demonstrated leadership ability in a high-performance culture, including coaching and facilitating business competency and performance management skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance. Demonstrated business and utility financial acumen, customer awareness, and ability to create value.
