Sr. Machinist Job at James Fisher Technologies
Position handles all aspects of running a machine shop. We are looking for someone who wants to help build and grow a high-performance shop in the Northern Colorado region. Responsible for operation of both manual and CNC machines, programming and estimating work.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversees and coordinates all day-to-day machining and support activities of the shop, ensures that work production meets established objectives, specifications, and standards, and that all applicable operating policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Creates programs for machining of prototype and production parts
- Produces custom tooling and fixture design as needed for complex prototypes.
- Proficient in tool and fixture setup and teardown, program loading & verification and offset inspection/corrections throughout production.
- Operates standard and specialized equipment, i.e. engine lathe, horizontal or vertical milling machines, surface grinder, band saw, drill press, and measuring tools to produce prototype parts.
- Consults with engineers and other personnel regarding product information such as design, capacity and purpose, and types of materials to be used for fabrication.
- Analyzes written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and oral instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations. Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interprets geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Familiar with all common machinable materials (i.e. aluminum, stainless-steel, carbon steel, plastic(s), titanium, brass, etc) as they relate to proper tool coatings/composition/geometry and operational speeds & feeds.
- May supervise the work of employees engaged in shop production and production support activities, to include recommendations for hiring, termination, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
- Maintains current knowledge with respect to relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
The company has an ISO 9001 quality assurance program and an established AWS welding program. We currently service both local customers as well as government customers across the US. Full benefits provided and bonus program is available to the right applicant.
