Overview:

The Senior Staff Accountant manages the day-to-day processes and projects related to Western First Aid’s month-end close and works independently on complex project analysis and recommendations. Ensures all information is received and processed accurately for month-end close. Prepares accurate and timely financial statements/reports and provides detailed analysis of variances to plan and prior year. Communicates regularly with Senior Management on the preparation and interpretation of close activities.


Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • -To understand the Western First Aid operations to ensure a timely and accurate reporting and reconciliation of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial information.
  • -Document and analyze Western First Aid’s subsystems processes and their interfaces to Oracle financial statements and look for ways to improve efficiencies.
  • -To obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • -Collaborates with the MC Office Manager when new initiatives are put forth to ensure the financial perspective is properly accounted for.
  • -Analyze specific area of the balance sheet, for example Inventory, Intangibles, Cash, etc. Explain variances to prior periods. Calculate metrics specific to these reconciliations. Reconcile all relevant balance sheet accounts.
  • -Supports the FSS and/or WFA Operators regarding Accounts Receivable as needed.
  • -Prepare journal entries for various accruals, actual expenses, reserves, etc. Clearly document sources of data and reasoning for entries.
  • -Supports budget and forecasting activities.
  • -Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • -Responds to inquiries from the ADS-Supervisor Accounting & Finance, and other finance and Western First Aid management regarding financial results, special reporting requests., etc.
  • -Ability to communicate effectively with other departments.
  • -Completes ad hoc reporting to support business analysis questions.
  • -Supports internal and external audits.
  • -Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the activities profiled above.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • -Proficient in Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet experience (i.e., pivot tables, macros, etc.).
  • -Must be detail oriented with a strong ability to multitask.
  • -Must be able to manage time to meet established time cutoffs.
  • -Good written and oral communication skills.
  • -Ability to complete projects/tasks on time with minimal supervision.
  • -Solid problem-solving skills, which include well-supported proposed solutions to issues

Working Environment/Safety Requirements:

  • -No special physical requirements for this position. Position is remote.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • -Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
  • -3 to 5 years prior accounting experience.
  • -Oracle and Hyperion Financials knowledge preferred.

Compensation: The salary rate for this position ranges from $70,000 to $85,000, depending on circumstances including an applicant’s skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors.
