Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION :

Assist faculty with the design of fully online courses of the highest possible quality. Provide instructional design and instructional technology services and support to faculty. Assist faculty in the development of learner-centered materials and other course materials for use primarily in online, blended, and technologically enhanced courses. Provide instructional design and instructional technology services and support to faculty, URI online programs, and administrators.

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Partner with faculty and subject matter experts to refine existing and design new courses to ensure the best practices for online course design and instruction are embedded into the learning experience.

Develop instructional strategies using multimedia and current Web capabilities within the course platforms.

Consult with faculty on new instructional initiatives and provide implementation of these technologies within the Brightspace platform for all courses within their jurisdiction.

Facilitate faculty training on effective implementation of learning technologies in online course design and instructions.

Assist the Associate Director of Online Education & Instructional Design and/or Specialist II, Instructional Design to complete URI Online initiatives as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Perform other duties as required.

LICENSES , TOOLS , AND EQUIPMENT :

Personal computers, printers and word processing, database management, learning management systems and spreadsheet software; multimedia hardware and software, web development; courseware development; Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite; video conferencing. Brightspace.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED :

1. Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design or related field.

2. Minimum of two years of web and multimedia development experience, OR, Minimum of two years of experience in online teaching and/or online training.

3. Demonstrated experience working with faculty on course design & development for distance learning.

4. Demonstrated experience working with faculty on blended learning courses and programs.

5. Demonstrated knowledge and application of instructional design theory, instructional design principles, learning theory, instructional technology, and/or accessibility principles.

6. Demonstrated experience creating online courses and programs.

7. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in academic fully online and blended course delivery technology areas.

8. Demonstrated knowledge of emerging multimedia and other technologies.

9. Demonstrated ability to work with new and unfamiliar technologies.

10. Demonstrated experience with an online learning platform (such as Brightspace).

11. Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite Applications.

12. Demonstrated experience in video conferencing and web development tools (such as Articulate 360).

13. Demonstrated strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

14. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

15. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED :

1. Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field.
