The Software Delivery Engineer role provides leadership and project management to the release process. This role will own the software development lifecycle which includes scheduling, coordinating and management of releases across the enterprise for multiple applications and environments. Responsible for implementing and managing the release process through the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) to release a quality product into the production environment(s) on premise and SaaS. This position will also be a catalyst for transitioning to a DevOps organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages release process to ensure critical SDLC milestones are met.
  • Provides daily tracking and management of items in release process to support SDLC.
  • Provides regular metrics on release process and backlog
  • Ensures service requests are meeting SOX audit controls and expectations and performing a regular audit of items to ensure all areas and controls are complete as required
  • Supports SOX audit and requests related to SDLC.
  • Acts as a project manager in the delivery management process to interface and communicate with multiple individuals and groups to see work items from start to finish following the SDLC
  • Owns the delivery management lifecycle to include scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for multiple applications
  • Forward and strategically plan the release windows and cycles and work to coordinate off-cycle releases as necessary across a multitude of lower environments
  • Coordinates release content and effort based on the service request backlog, upcoming projects and system updates
  • Communicates any changes to items in a release management cycle including requirements changes, QA plans, schedule and scope changes via daily reporting
  • Manages risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Manages relationships and coordinate work between different teams across the IT and business organization
  • Conducts release readiness reviews, milestone reviews and develop go/no-go reviews of items
  • Creates and maintain process and policy for delivery management as well as calendar updates for scheduling visibility
  • Provides tools and services to help the IT Governance and IT Service Management teams manage and deploy delivery items into production
  • Works closely with the Software Configuration Management team to gather deployment instructions to develop detailed deployment and implementation plans
  • Works closely with the Software Configuration Management team and Development team on a branching strategy and to understand the impacts of branches and code merges
  • Coordinates the refresh and set up of test environments to include interfacing with the QA team on smoke tests of environments
  • Coordinates the testing cycles and interface with the business to plan and facilitate User Acceptance Testing in accordance with the delivery schedule
  • Leads and coordinate the go-live activities of a release including the execution of deployment plans and checklists
  • Coordinates with the production support team on the tracking, prioritization and resolution of post-release issues
  • Coordinates with executive leadership on stakeholder approval of releases before they are released to production
  • Continually work towards making improvements in the release process and research new methodologies applicable to current needs
  • Works with IT Governance and IT Service Management teams to ensure milestone adherence to ensure the integrity of releases are met and can be measured
  • Collaborates with business partners, stakeholders, leadership, and Agile Delivery leaders to elevate the organization’s ability to build and maintain roadmaps with a sustainable delivery cadence and to establish consistent, meaningful metrics and KPIs for measuring progress and effectiveness
  • Maintains release documentation in a repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures and stakeholder sign off
  • Actively participates in the Change Management process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field or equivalent work experience required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of experience in a complex IT organization.
  • More than two years of experience in a DevOps delivery role (or similar role) required
  • Deep understanding and experience in Agile principles and practices.
  • Strong knowledge of .NET technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps, Microsoft Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server (TFS).
  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with project management and workflow tools such as Agile, Jira, WorkFront, Scrum/Kanban/SAFe, etc. preferred.
  • Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Executive Coach (CEC), SAFe Agilist, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification preferred.
