The House Manager acts as a support for peer recovery, and is preferred, but not required to be an individual with lived experience who has initiated their own recovery journey and can assist others who are in earlier stages of the healing process of recovery. The House Manager will create a safe, supportive, and caring home environment for women and/or non-binary adults in recovery and guide residents through an individualized recovery journey. The House Manager will demonstrate a commitment to recovery for residents and guide the Recovery House residents toward making positive choices.
The House Manager lives at Recovery House along with the other residents and is provided lodging free of charge as part of the compensation package.
Essential Duties:
- Engage all residents in conversations and activities that are educating and stimulating
- Monitor client’s rooms for cleanliness and participate in random room checks
- Ensure that clients have the items needed (i.e., linen, hygiene products, clean clothes, etc.).
- Ensure that all residents respect and maintain communal areas [esp. kitchen, living room(s), game room] and will assign household chores to residents
- Hold residents accountable to following house rules including curfew
- Observe and report any concerning behaviors and activities that may pose a safety risk to residents or neighbors or potential areas of conflict between residents to program coordinator
- Monitor proper use and functioning of appliances and other household equipment.
- Maintain inventory of all household supplies (i.e., cleaning supplies, cooking utensils, furniture, household keys, cabinet room keys, etcetera)
- Prepare bedrooms for all new residents entering Sober Living home (i.e., clean linens, dresser drawers, bedroom cleanliness, working keys for locking cabinet(s) in shared bedrooms
- Welcome and introduce new clients to all existing residents and review Program and House Rules with all new residents and ensure resident compliance with house rules
- Facilitate House Meetings, Community Meetings, Weekend Wrap Up and Life Skills Groups
- Responsible for arranging transportation to withdrawal management (detox), a Crisis Center or hospital for residents who are found to be under the influence of a substance or are presenting as a danger to themselves and or others
- Conduct random urine drug screens (UDS) and breathalyzer (BA)
- Communicate in a culturally sensitive manner with a diverse resident population
- Understand and apply State and County requirements for CCAR Sober Living standards
- Participate in assigned trainings and supervision with the Program Coordinator
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
- Must be 25 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- If you are a person with lived experience, you must be at least two (2) years sober.
- Possess a working knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health disorders, and other psychosocial stressors such as homelessness
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in coaching and or sponsoring others
This position pays $6.18/hr and includes free room & board at the house.
