SMT Operator Job at Wavetronix
Wavetronix, the global leader in radar-based vehicle detection technologies, seeks an AOI Operator. He or she will be responsible for inspecting printed circuit boards in the electronics assembly process. Work closely with others in a highly functional team environment. Support an environment of continuous improvement by following established process, recommending new improvement ideas, and actively contributing to product quality and the overall health of the team. This position is based in Springville, Utah.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the operation of AOI equipment.
- Contributes to a quality-minded culture by following established processes.
- Can read and follow detailed operating instructions.
- Knowledge of IPC-610 a plus.
- Inspects circuit boards.
- Must have a strong attention to detail.
- Able to diplomatically communicate defects to SMT Operators, SMT Manager and Repair Tech Manager.
- Stopping PnP production to address issues if needed.
- The AOI Operator will be operating AOI equipment only.
FIRST 30 DAYS:
- Get to know and build trust with the SMT Team and Repair Technician Team.
- Understand basic manufacturing product flow.
- Actively participate in team and company meetings.
- Learn basic operations of AOI equipment.
- Learn how to spot defects such as insufficient solder, misaligned parts etc.
- Participate in onboarding training provided by Wavetronix.
FIRST 90 DAYS:
- Attend training on new AOI equipment.
- Demonstrate ability to run basics of AOI equipment with some oversight.
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with Operators, Managers and Repair Technicians.
- Ability to independently inspect circuit boards.
FIRST 6 MONTHS:
- Ability to run AOI equipment with little oversight.
- Ability to evaluate problems and make recommendations to managers for corrective action.
- Approve, reject or submit boards for rework.
- Accurately maintain AOI profiles and documents.
FIRST YEAR AND BEYOND:
- Ability to run all AOI processes with no oversight.
- Ability to train new operators on AOI basics.
- Assist in writing or updating inspection procedure, protocols and checklists.
- Improve operator skills through additional training.
- Actively participate in company learning and development programs.
- Become IPC-610 certified.
