The Boys & Girls Club is opening a new middle school program during the school-year that provides after school and full day programming. The Club has three outcome areas in academic success, good character & citizenship and health lifestyles.

TITLE: SITE COORDINATOR

DEPARTMENT: PROGRAMMING

REPORTS TO: CENTER DIRECTOR

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

  • Plans, implements, and supervises all programs and activities provided in 5 core program areas at 1 location under the supervisor of the Program Coordinator
  • Manages behavior issues
  • Staff management
  • Special event oversight

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

Prepare Youth for Success

  • Ensure programs, services and activities that prepare youth for success, promote safety of members and quality in programs at all times. Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of the strategic plan by:
  • Planning, organizing and implementing a range of program services and activities for drop in members and visitors.
  • Initiating new programs with the approval of the Center Director.
  • Promoting and stimulating program participation.
  • Ensure quality improvement by monitoring and evaluating program achievement against target goals, recommending modifications that respond to member needs and interests and participating in weekly site staff meetings.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure a healthy and safe environment, supervising members in program area.

Program Development and Implementation

  • Focus on increased member recruitment and retention through supporting and the development of engaging programs.

Supervision

  • Follow policies and procedures in handling behavior issues as they arise.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
  • May participate in special programs and/or events
  • May be required to drive Club van
  • Managing facilities and closing procedures
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.

External: Maintain professional contact with community members and Club parents reporting any issues to Center Director.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of one year’s work experience working in youth development and/or leading group of kids.
  • Demonstrated ability in the supervision of kids, and the recruitment and retention of kids.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively interact with members including discipline.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

PREFERRED

  • Experience in a Boys & Girls Cub or similar organization.
  • Familiarity with the Boys & Girls Club organization and mission.
