Sheriff's Office Therapist - Sheriff Job at Sedgwick County
Department: Sheriff-KPERS
Pay: $2,776.13 - $3,298.40 bi-weekly; $72,179.25 -$85,758.40 yearly, depending on experience.
Work Schedule: M-F 8-5 (with occasional callouts) or varied days and times

Performs professional duties in providing counseling and wellness checks to commissioned deputies, detention deputies, and civilian members of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office. Duties will also include training agency employees in areas such as trauma, resilience, and counseling. Participates in after-hours incidents such as Critical Incident Stress Debriefings (CISD’s) as needed.
Counseling
Provide counseling assistance as needed to Sheriff employees
Provide counseling assistance as needed to families of Sheriff employees
Develop treatment plans with behavioral and situational objectives
Provide referrals when necessary
Education
Provide training to current Sheriff employees
Provide training to newly hired recruits
Administrative Duties
Maintain confidential records
Write detailed reports
Act as liaison between the Sheriff’s office and local mental health agencies and hospitals
Maintain detailed statistics of services provided
Crisis Intervention Duties
Respond to Critical Incident calls after normal business hours
Work with the Peer Support Team during critical incidents
Collaborate with Peer Support team regarding critical incident aftercare
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher. Must be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LMSW, LMFT, LMLP, or LPC. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher. Two years of clinical counseling in a mental health related setting. A clinically licensed mental health provider such as an LCMFT, LSCSW, LCPC. Experience working with first responders. Training with Trauma (EMDR, CPT, CBT, Prolonged Exposure etc.)
