Sewing Operator Job at Commercial Vehicle Group
1st Shift Hours are typically 6:30am-3:00pm
Starting pay is $14.50/hour
Summary:
Sew patterns in existing parts or assemble parts by sewing, according to prescribed patterns, by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and practices
- Support the organization's efforts toward continuous improvement
- Support the organization's goals and values
- Demonstrate teamwork by working with others to improve overall standards of performance and service
- Willing and able to cross-train on other positions within Production
- Warm up by stretching prior to starting a shift or after a meal period using proper ergonomic techniques
- Match product and truck labels
- Read and understand schedules and process sheets
- Know and understand the differences in various stitch lengths and thread color
- Trim excess scrap/thread from part using proper cutting tool(s) when necessary
- Know single-fold and double fold applications
- Properly load and use industrial long arm sewing machine
- Properly maintain equipment for daily use and identify when the Sewing Mechanic is needed
- Properly load and use snap machine and hot strap cutter as required
- Attach buckles, velcro or snaps as required
- Complete documentation with necessary information in accordance with the standard operating procedures.
- Maintain product identification and traceability per defined requirements
- Clean work areas thoroughly each day at the end of shift
- Other duties may be assigned as required
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and one to three months related manufacturing experience or training.
