Senior Systems/Software Engineers Job at Cavan Solutions
Provide full lifecycle systems and software engineering expertise to FAA Aeronautical Information Management Modernization (AIMM) implementation, and operational support initiatives.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide systems/software engineering expertise including but not limited to develop, review, and validate operational concepts; define system architectures and specification documents; and develop and manage requirements for Aeronautical Information Services Replacement (AISR), Integrated Enterprise Support Platform (IESP), and Federal NOTAM System (FNS) modernization initiatives
- Define system performance and design constraints
- Develop and/or review specifications, drawings, and product descriptions
- Conduct life cycle engineering assessments
- Provide specialty engineering, configuration management, and systems engineering process management
- Develop, review, maintain, and test contractor developed software and systems
- Analyze operational and developmental software baselines; support release planning; and identify and monitor quality and performance metrics
- Provide oversight to the software contractor including but not limited to requirements management, software reviews, and documentation reviews
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring within and across projects
Qualifications
- Temporary remote work - Washington DC based
- US Citizenship required
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience required
- Experience leading engineering teams to execute projects within cost and schedule constraints required
- Experience analyzing, developing, or testing software intensive systems required
- Experience with FAA automation, decision support, and information management systems preferred
- Experience with the FAA Acquisition Management System artifacts preferred
- Experience with AIMM capabilities/systems, AIXM, and SWIM preferred
- Experience with service-oriented architecture and cloud services preferred
- Experience with aviation/aeronautical safety preferred
- Experience with information systems security preferred
- Experience with Solaris and Postgres, RedHat, and WebSphere App Server preferred
- Detail oriented, independent, self-motivated, and a proactive team member
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; effective with operational, technical, and senior management audiences
Education
- BA/BS Engineering, computer science, operations research, mathematics, or related technical field
Travel
- Project related travel and trade shows as required
