Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in business or public administration, criminal justice, or a related field required; supplemented by five years of experience working in a court system or legal profession, including two (2) years supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Affirmation as a sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court and Notary Public Certification issued by the Clerk of Superior Court (within county of residence). Additionally may be required to possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver's License according to position assignment.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to supervising staff and coordinating the operations of multiple support units of one functional area within the Fulton County Court System. Responsibilities include managing assigned staff, processing and recording documents, filing collected court fees, indexing documents, and preparing activity reports as required. This classification is distinguished from the Court Support Supervisor I in that this classification is responsible for the supervision of multiple units or an entire division whereas the latter supervises the daily operations of an assigned unit within a court system division.
Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff: participates in hiring and/or termination decisions/recommendations; compiles and reviews timesheets; processes employee concerns and problems and counsels or disciplines as appropriate; assists with or completes employee performance appraisals; directs work; acts as a liaison between employees and management; conducts new employee orientation; and trains staff in operations, policies, and procedures, or coordinates training opportunities for staff.
Coordinates the daily operation of multiple support units or a division within the Fulton County Court System: monitors, and evaluates, and implements court operations and procedures of assigned units or division; and assists in the implementation of changes in procedures related to new laws and regulations governing court operations.
Approves the release of court documents prepared by staff.
Supervises, monitors, and prepares record retention schedules and coordinates the storage of court records.
Coordinates calendar dates for assigned judge: oversees the generation of defendants' court notices; and investigates and resolves problems concerning court services.
Supervises/provides customer service to internal and external customers: answers telephone and greets walk in customers; provides information and assistance with filing of documents and court procedures; and directs customers to other departments or individuals as needed.
Advises departmental managers, County officials, attorneys, and the general public, County officials, and attorneys of court and/or departmental guidelines and matters regarding operations, management, evaluation, and administration of the Court System; implement changes in operations resulting from new laws and regulations; and works with other court agencies to develop inter-departmental policies.
Assists with the preparation and administration of assigned court division budget as required; approves expenditures in compliance with approved budget.
Coordinates and supervises special court programs as required: prepares reports on court programs, activities, projects, and the future direction of certain court processes.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including daily balance reports, bonds, receiving reports, court orders, invoices, and timesheets; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate; prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including financial reports, spreadsheets, training materials, legal documents, and personnel related items; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
Additional Functions:
Performs the duties of the Court Support Manager in his/her absence as required. Performs other related duties as required.
