Senior Service Specialist Job at Northwest Community Healthcare

Shift: Part time, Days, 20 hrs/week
Reporting to the Executive Director of Community Services, manages all aspects of NCH Senior Services which addresses access to healthcare for older adults and provides community outreach programs to improve and/or maintain their health and wellness. Develops, markets and executes activities and events to introduce and present NCH to target audiences in collaboration with NCH staff and partners. Serves as the NCH ambassador to the senior community
1. In collaboration with internal departments, develops and implements health and wellness programs designed to address identified needs of seniors. Coordinates and directs programming including, but not limited to, health fairs, educational offerings, screenings and assessments at the hospital, senior centers and other community venues. Oversees the implementation and establishes measurement tools for analyzing programs' effectiveness. Reports outcomes to the Community Health & Outreach Committee of the Board of Directors on an ongoing basis.
2. Serves as a liaison between the hospital and the community and serves internally as the subject matter expert on senior services. Cultivates and maintains relationships with seniors and with external organizations involved with seniors such as local government, civic and social service agencies and private business sectors. Represents NCH by serving on board of directors for local senior centers. Actively promotes NCH's image as an organization committed to meeting the healthcare needs of seniors. Promotes NCH's mission internally by communicating current NCH outreach efforts and encouraging involvement and participation in targeted community benefit activities designed to decrease disparities in healthcare and encourage the promotion of community health and well-being.
3. Manages all marketing of senior services including special events, advertising, print collateral, communications and physician lectures.
4. Uses the community health needs assessment and feedback from community partners to identify seniors’ needs as well as opportunities to maintain market share and increase volume. Develops strategies and provides guidance and oversight to all senior outreach initiatives. Ensures efforts align with NCH’s overall strategic plan. Responsible for senior services budgeting, fiscal planning and cost control measures.
5. Responsible for managing the reporting of all senior community benefit in CBISA; Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability software.
6. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures.
Qualifications
1. The level of knowledge normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Marketing or Communications related field with course work in people skills and communications.
2. Minimum of three years progressively responsible experience coordinating marketing or public relations programs required.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare or community service activities in the Northwest suburbs.
4. Valid Illinois driver’s license and access to an automobile is required.
5. The interpersonal skills necessary to interact and lead initiatives with all levels of hospital staff and various external individuals, groups and committees.
6. The analytical skills necessary to evaluate personnel and program effectiveness, to project and plan program goals and to prepare analytical reports.
7. The verbal communication and presentation skills necessary to express ideas effectively and to be a hospital spokesperson in both individual and group situations with external customers.
8 The written skills necessary to formulate marketing plans and documents.
9. The listening and observing skills to identify common themes in the field and generate insights related to target audience.
10. Skilled in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Moderate physical effort. May require frequent periods of standing or walking. May require frequent moving or lifting of light weight material, occasional lifting or moving of average weight material, or rarely lifting or moving of heavy weight material.
