Summary:
Seagen is seeking a highly collaborative Scientist to lead research activities supporting new oncology drugs during pre-clinical development and early-stage clinical testing. We are seeking an individual who can leverage their passion for patients to work on cross-functional project teams and bring biologic therapeutics into the clinic. In addition to scientific excellence, this position requires excellent collaboration, effective written and oral communication, innovation, and strategic thinking. Candidates should possess a strong molecular/cell biology, immunology, or bioengineering background with excellent interpersonal skills, clear communication, and accountability.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Design and implement comprehensive experimental plans to inform project decision-making and regulatory filings. Communicate plans and results effectively to project teams and leadership
- Identify, design, and execute critical experiments to drive projects through IND and early clinical trials
- Identify, design, and execute critical experiments to explore new/expanded clinical opportunities
- Develop and implement research plans to expand our understanding of therapeutic mechanisms of action and predictors of drug sensitivity and resistance
- Collaborate with clinical and translational sciences to help guide the clinical development strategy for novel therapeutics. Serve as a single point of contact for cross-functional/interdepartmental research activities
- Key contributor to regulatory documents and peer-reviewed publications
- Ensure experiments are appropriately documented and summarized
- May provide research support/oversight for external collaborations and represent Research on advisory boards
- Represent Research and present work at scientific conferences
- Serve as a mentor for junior scientists
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Immunology, or another related field plus 2-4 years of experience
- Candidates with a BS or MS degree and extensive drug development experience in a biotech industry setting will also be considered
- Strong background in experimental cancer biology, biochemical, cell/molecular, and/or immunological techniques (e.g. flow cytometry, Elisa, western blot, cell line engineering, immunofluorescence, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a variety of cell culture models (3D, co-culture, etc.) and cell-based assays
- Experience with murine cancer models (xenograft, PDX, and/or syngeneic). Proven proficiency in the design of in vivo experiments as well as sample assessment using a variety of laboratory techniques
- Ability to work both in a team-based environment and independently with outstanding problem-solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences
- Knowledge and expertise in oncology drug development, therapeutic antibodies, and/or ADCs
