The department working in conjunction with the Academic Affairs division of the Law School provides a wide range of support with regards to student records, student advisement, student counseling as well as working with internal departments/units to bridge student experience and aid in student success.

Posting Summary
Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Senior Program Coordinator. The Senior Program Coordinator for Student Affairs at Rutgers Law School’s Newark location will provide senior level administrative support to Rutgers Law School’s student affairs and academic support functions in Newark.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
  • Supports academic advising, student counseling, student organizations, graduation ceremonies
  • Enters student orientation program, liaising with university student health and residence life offices
  • Coordinates and executes ADA compliance
  • Liaises with RU-N student services departments such as Student Affairs, Business Services and Residence Life offices and others
  • Serves as a central students facing staff member at the Newark location, fielding questions regularly and directing students to other offices as appropriate
  • Develops programing that supports the school’s curricular needs and mission as well providing an escalated level of service to students

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education
  • Also requires a minimum of two years relevant experience in an administrative function, good communication skills, and computer literacy.

  • Exemplary administrative, analytical, and communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written proficiency
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with particular emphasis on ability to counsel students, as well as work with alumni, faculty, subordinates, peers, students, and other members of the public
  • Outstanding managerial and organizational abilities. Strong computer skills, including ability to compile and analyze statistical data and reports

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience counseling students at the graduate school level, preferably at law school; experience in academic support, particularly with a diverse population in a post-secondary school environment

Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees, Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
