Senior Process Engineer
Our Process Engineers design innovative and creative solutions for our client’s issues. We can help identify and resolve a bottleneck in existing processes as well as design a new facility. A Process Engineer takes into consideration the transformation of raw materials into finished products and uses this information to design the most efficient and effective process for performing this transformation. We refine manufacturing process for efficiency, government regulations, and cost benefits.
The Process Engineer performs routine aspects of engineering assignments applying knowledge of basic engineering principles and using prescribed methods. Demonstrates a familiarity of engineering design and construction techniques; is capable and safety-conscious in an industrial process facility; comfortable handling multiple project responsibilities; possesses interpersonal skills which allow an ease of client interaction.
Responsibilities
  • Develops and writes discipline scope, deliverables, assumptions, and estimates budget for proposals
  • Gathers field data, develops and supervises the use of design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectives
  • Ensures quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables
  • Follows the BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards
  • Performs or ensures all the necessary calculations and design effort to prepare deliverables
  • Ensures discipline's design is accurate and coordinated within the 2D drawings and/or 3D model and/or site scans
  • Coordinates work with Engineers and delegates/coordinates work with Designers on a project
  • Establishes and manages their own engineering schedule and budget objectives on assigned projects
  • Provides clear direction to designers of project scope, schedule, budget and expectations of quality for small or medium sized projects
  • Ability to manage or self-perform capital cost estimating
  • Supervises or writes project-based documents; including but not limited to studies, project notes, scope, and close-out reports
  • Participates in construction support, startup and commissioning efforts
  • Identifies individual training needs and goals and receives training from others and may attend outside seminars
  • Mentor and develops specific training sessions for others
  • Create PFD, P&ID, M&EB, Water balance, Utility summaries
  • Perform Equipment sizing, Prepare & issue Equipment specifications, prepare bid evaluations, review shop drawings, equipment lists
  • Prepare Process safety studies, PHA participation, relief calculations, Code review studies, Electrical area classification reviews/drawings
  • Assist in developing plant layouts, support development of instrumentation datasheets and writing process functional descriptions
  • Prepare Process descriptions, Government compliance reports (RFS2, air emissions)
  • Write operating procedures, and qualification/validation protocols
  • Perform process calculations using BSI’s calculation sheets, size lines and perform process simulations, using PipeFlo for hydraulic calcs, using Aspen/ChemCad or other software
  • Write and perform factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT)
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 10+ years of prior Process Engineering
  • PE License is a plus, but not required
  • Prior experience leading design teams is required
  • Experience developing process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process flow diagrams (PFDs), and executing capital projects from conceptual design through detailed design and construction
  • Ability to perform required process engineering calculations including material and energy balances, process equipment sizing and specification, line sizing, safety device sizing, and material selection and compatibility
  • Knowledge in applicable codes and design standards, including NFPA, API, ASME, and OSHA-PSM requirements
  • Familiarity with 3-A sanitary standards and working knowledge in USDA, FDA regulations.
  • Ability to lead a Process Hazardous Analysis (PHA) is a plus
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Experience with ASPEN Pipe Flow is a plus
  • Ability to review CAD files if a plus
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to produce and present clear, concise, and professionally written communications and presentations
  • Strong analytical capabilities
  • Strong management, presentation, decision-making, problem solving and people skills
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Proficient with required software and management tools
  • Familiar with one or more simulation software platforms
