Oakwood Village has an exciting opportunity for qualified candidates to join our Prairie Ridge (East Side of Madison) senior living community facility team as a Life Enrichment Specialist. Our Life Enrichment Specialist provides therapeutic programs in which to encourage persons to maintain independence, develop and pursue personal interest and social interactions.

• The position is a M-F AM shift with a need to be available to work occasionally on nights and weekends.

• This position works 60 to 80 hours every 2 weeks.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Not intended to be an all-inclusive list)

• Develop, organize, and implement activities geared toward programming, with the assistance from other staff as needed. Including one-on-one, small, and large group activities.
• Facilitate therapeutic programs in order to maintain or increase individual functioning levels and/or interest pursuits.
• Guide interested individuals to and from program locations, as necessary.
• Demonstrate creativity in designing programs, to promote a variety of techniques, styles, and individual preferences.
• Adapt programs to meet individual needs and/or interests.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Not intended to be an all-inclusive list)

• Previous experience in working with the elderly and/or disabled persons is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of state and federal regulations as they pertain to the areas.
• Ability to recognize and understand a person’s capacity for appropriate leisure/programs of varied nature and physical demand.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work load. -Ability to communicate effectively with the residents.
• Ability to work within established policies and procedures.
• Ability to work in a partnership environment which fosters effective teamwork in meeting the mission of Oakwood Village.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING

• Previous experience in working with the elderly and/or disabled persons is preferred.
• 2. Valid driver’s license and CDL are preferred.
• 3. COTA, recreation therapy, or related education field preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.75 - $21.50 per hour
