FibroGen seeks a Senior Director of Analytical Development to oversee the development, qualification, and validation of analytical methods, method transfers, and characterization of the drug substances for biologic drugs, in particular monoclonal antibodies.
The position will include supervising laboratory scientists as well as managing analytical activities at contract manufacturing organizations.
Strong laboratory expertise with HPLC methodologies, capillary electrophoresis, and mass spectrometry is required as well as demonstrated experience in the characterization of monoclonal antibodies.
Requirements:

  • Method Development, Qualification, and Validation – The successful candidate will have significant experience with the development of HPLC and CE methods, and other methods important for testing biologics.
  • Characterization – The successful candidate will have experience with characterizing the physical-chemical properties of biologics, particularly monoclonal antibodies.
  • This position requires experience with managing a group of scientists, including excellent communication skills and excellent writing skills. The successful candidate must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills to build productive relationships with direct reports and peer team members.
  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or other related scientific discipline with a minimum of 10 of years of biopharma or pharmaceuticals industry experience, covering early through late clinical development.
  • A demonstrated track record of success in a group management role in a biopharma or pharmaceuticals environment is required.
  • Experience with GMP laboratory procedures is required.
  • Experience with QC testing is recommended.
  • Experience with small molecule drug development is a plus.

For annual base pay, we typically set standard ranges for positions based on function and level benchmarks. Further, we establish fixed annual bonus targets, expressed at a % of annual base pay, based on level in the organization.
