Job Title: Senior Superintendent

Reports to: General Superintendent

Pay: $90,000-$120,000, DOE

Position Summary: The Senior Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to manage, in collaboration with the Project Manager, Estimator, and Executive Management to successfully complete assigned projects. The Senior Superintendent is the leader for assigned construction projects within the company. Site safety, quality control, and project scheduling are important implements of this position. Senior Superintendents will also be called upon to take part in pre-construction activities, constructability collaboration and mentorship of the Essex personnel. Occasional travel is required.

Essential Functions:

· Manage job site safety, quality, and schedule for assigned projects from pre-construction to closeout.

· Ensure Essex standards of quality and safety are adhered to by championing Essex safety culture to the project team and subcontractors.

· Mentor and develop field team members while effectively managing the overall team.

· Work collaboratively and positively with Project Manager, project team members, and field.

· Represent Essex in a professional manner to future clients, architects, and engineers.

· Effectively create construction methods and techniques for assigned projects.

· Actively participates and helps recruiting staff, especially superintendents or potential superintendents.

· Recognize the “bigger picture” and continue to push company goals and vision.

· Tasked with managing the largest and most complex projects in the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the field and project team successfully and collaboratively.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and effective relationship with clients, Construction Managers, project team, consultants/ architects/ engineers, subcontractors, adjacent community, trade unions, and governmental agencies.
  • Responsible for the project set-up, job site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
  • Review all project documents for constructibility and content, including shop drawings.
  • Manage the creation and logging of project documents including RFI’s, ASI’s, and as-builts.
  • Create and enforce a site-specific emergency action plan for assigned projects in collaboration with the Essex Safety Director.
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors at assigned projects.
  • Coordinate with building inspections, subcontractor inspections, and agencies.
  • Perform daily job site walks and submit daily reports.
  • Conduct and/or attend foreman meetings, pre-construction meetings, safety meetings, and team meetings.
  • Manage job site manpower production and performance.
  • Use project management software effectively.
  • Attend company and industry events including meetings, trainings, workshops, etc.
  • Create and maintain construction schedule in using Critical Path Method scheduling.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience as a foreman, superintendent, or equivalent role in the construction industry.
  • Degree or certificate in Construction Management or related field, preferred.
  • Must have solid understanding of the construction industry, job site safety requirements, planning and scheduling, building trades and sequence of work, and relevant technology.
  • Must be able to read plans and specifications.
