We are looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to join our team at Sparrows in Houma, Louisiana.

This position is responsible for total inventory cost analysis for raw materials, WIP and Finished Goods products. Will have Supply Chain responsibilities including input into BOM maintenance, item creation and maintenance, determining inventory needs based on sales forecasts, item movement, job requirements and planning fulfillment of those demand needs. Must be able to negotiate with current/new suppliers on cost, delivery, quality, warranties, and delivery of materials as well as maintaining inventory levels to strategic guidelines.

Main responsibilities

• Support of Supply Chain Manager, Manufacturing & International Parts Sales
• Gathers and interprets relevant data (costs, productivity, demand patterns, etc.)
• Develops periodic performance reports and distributes them to stakeholders and management
• Place orders for required materials based upon demand
• Expediting of orders to ensure on time-delivery needs
• Handle the full cycle purchasing process including identifying clients' needs, reviewing solutions, identifying vendors, and making recommendations.
• Provides analytical support for projects, new business opportunities, and proposals
• Interfacing with warehouse/inventory control as well as finance to resolve any vendor or supplier issues.
• Know and understand Sparrows Offshore LLC’s Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
• Understand and comply with all Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Perform other duties as required by Supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

HSEQ responsibilities

• It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
• The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Bachelors or Associates Degree in relevant field
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
• Strong familiarity with logistics and production planning concepts e.g., Just-in-Time (JIT), Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), ERP & MRP concepts.
• Broad range of computer skills—database, spreadsheet, statistical applications, and logistics software packages.
• Understand contracts and tariffs.
• Self-directed and highly motivated
• Ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, develop project models to facilitate/implement change.
• Min 2+ years’ experience as a Buyer in a service or manufacturing oriented environment.
• Comfortable working with individuals at all organizational levels.
• Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to handle multiple projects.
