The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team facilitates and advances person-centered care through evidence-based professional practice and learning strategies and programs that are designed provincially and implemented locally to enhance collaborative learning and practice. The Interprofessional Practice and Learning team takes a leadership role in creating a culture of collaboration with a focus on team-based care, evidence-informed practice, and learning and professional development to improve health outcomes for patients, families and communities. Through strong partnerships with the academic sector, regulators, and government, the Interprofessional Practice and Learning team has an integral role in influencing and operationalizing health system priorities.


About the Opportunity


The NS Health Learning Institute for Health Care Providers within Interprofessional Practice and Learning (IPPL) plays a leadership role within the organization in creating a culture of learning with a focus on transition to specialty practice programs, entry-level transition to practice, interprofessional practice education (IPE) and continuing professional practice development. The Learning Institute promotes accountable professional practice in quality practice environments, facilitates patient and family centered care, fosters collaborative team relationships, and supports research and evidence-based practice. Based out of the Central Zone, The QEII Simulation Program provides excellence in simulation by helping facilitate innovative experiential best practice learning and competency maintenance. The QEII Simulation Program operates three facilities that provide various modalities of simulation learning experiences.

Reporting to the Director, NSHealth Learning Institute for Health Care Providers and QEII Simulation Program, with accountabilities to the Managers of the Learning Institute and QEII Simulation Program, the Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning leads in the development of the strategic directions for the Learning Institute and the QEII Simulation Program. This includes areas of policy development, planning and accountability, determining key strategic priorities, resources, timelines and deliverables, identification of standards, best and promising practices, and more broadly, evidence-based decision making. The Senior Analyst provides strategic analysis and advice on issues impacting the Learning Institute and QEII Simulation. The Senior Analyst advises and leads the advancement of defined priority areas according to IPPLs mandate and key pillars as well as aligning this work with the strategic directions of Nova Scotia Health. This involves fostering existing and building new partnerships that support the achievement of priorities. This role collaborates with the Senior Analyst - Policy & Planning for IPPL.

The Senior Analyst assists in developing strategic and operational plans that support excellence in collaborative and interprofessional education and practice support that enables high quality person centred care delivery, improvement in health outcomes, and achievement of standards of care established by Nova Scotia Health and other relevant bodies. The Senior Analyst also brings a strong background in quality improvement to support and advance the mandate and pillars within IPPL.


About You


We would love to hear from you if you have the following:


  • Master’s Degree in a health-related discipline required
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant leadership experience with progressive accountabilities for developing strategies, standards development, evaluation and implementation, advising on policy, and adoption of best practices to deliver high quality service
  • Current registration with the relevant health or professional discipline/college an asset
  • Certified Health Executive designation an asset
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and decision skills
  • Expert knowledge to critically analyze evidence-based practices to inform strategy development and organizational planning
  • Strategic planning and systems thinking
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
  • Expertise in financial planning
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem solving
  • Understands the principles of project management and demonstrated ability to create and lead complex work teams
  • Expertise in leading complex change
  • Quality improvement methodologies
  • Cultural competence
  • Collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion skills are paramount as this role requires the engagement of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset

Salary Information


$40.27 - $50.34 hourly
$78,528 - $98,160 annually
