Wage Range:
$75000 - $85000 Salary/year
This position offers a sign on bonus of $5,000 (1/2 at hire 1/2 at 1 year mark)

Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will perform complex accounting functions including but not limited to, fiscal oversight of grants and contracts, various reconciliations, homeownership and grant reporting, fiscal compliance budgeting, report writing and data analysis. The Senior Accountant should have a good grasp of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP). The position will research, understand, and apply State and Federal laws, agencies requirements, rules and regulations. Strong accounting and analytical skills as well as intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills are required. The Senior Accountant must be able to solve complex problems, be comfortable working in various software systems and have the skills to reconcile and audit general and subledger accounts. The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller of Catholic Charities Housing Services.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform technical accounting work related to the Agency's housing construction projects. Account for pre-development and development costs for reimbursement by funding sources. Reconcile costs and draws to General Ledger.
  • Review and assist with Single Family home construction homeownership reporting, grant reporting and fiscal grant compliance. Reconcile appropriate custodial accounts to family accounting ledgers and cash on hand. Reconcile offset accounts to maintain accurate custodial, loan and construction account balances.
  • Provide technical accounting work related to the Agency's federal, state and local grants. Assist the Controller with accounting and reporting functions including but not limited to: time and effort payroll records, grant billing, reporting and reconciliation. Maintain related receivables and revenue accounts.
  • Assist Controller with preparation of quarterly and annual financial reports including consolidation of data from various related entities and properties.
  • Assist with external audits as requested
  • Perform accounts payable reviews
  • Develop and run reports in the Sage Intacct software system.
  • Assist with Property accounting records and financial reporting.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations
  • Assist with annual budgeting process.
  • Create and maintain annual forms W-9 for each entity and dba for the Housing portfolio. Obtain authorized signature and store electronically.
  • Create and maintain separate fiscal records to document detail as appropriate including but not limited to custodial deposit accounts for earnest money, construction loan cash, tax parcel information, contracts and agreements, fixed asset records, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time.
Non-Physical Requirements:
Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or additional experience to compensate for education.
Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience
  • Federal grant fiscal experience is desirable

Special Skills:
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Knowledge and experience with computerized general ledger systems, spreadsheet design, database management and reporting
  • Intermediate to Advanced knowledge in Excel formulas and functions
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated, adaptable to change, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn new responsibilities
  • Ability to be self-directed and represent the agency in a professional manner

Licensure, Registration, Certification:
  • Valid Washington State drivers license and required minimum liability insurance for WA State
  • CPA license, candidate or similar is desirable

Employment is conditional upon:
  • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
