For the position of Contractor in the Chemical Biology group at our bustling our R&D site and Biohub in Waltham, MA, we are seeking a laboratory-based contractor for a 1-year position to support our efforts to accelerate the discovery of the next generation of small-molecule therapeutics. This position is part of an ongoing collaboration with the Early Oncology and Cell Assay Development teams in the UK/US.

Job summary

This role seeks a contractor with expertise in cellular assay development and proteomics. You will have the following key responsibilities and characteristics:

• Accelerate the development of a Client method to map protein-protein interactions.
• Method development from cell culture to proteomics sample preparation and data analysis including:

o Protein Isolation from complex biological samples, immuno- or chemical-affinity enrichment to selectively enrich proteins.
o Proteomics sample preparation, including protein digestion, isobaric tagging, and peptide purification.

• Expansion of the methodology towards a high-throughput AlphaLISA®-based screening method in collaboration with Cell Assay Development.
• Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the team to contribute to iterative experimental design.
• Possess strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, regularly presenting internal updates and contributing to publication strategy in high level peer-reviewed journals.

Essential Requirements

BS/MS in Biology or similar discipline.

• 3-5 years Biological or analytical laboratory experience in a research laboratory or industrial setting.
• Cellular assay development experience for the purpose of high-throughput screening (e.g. high-throughput and/or FRET-based screening).
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal, and organizational skills.

Desired characteristics (having these skills will be a plus)

• Hands on experience with mass spectrometry and/or experience with interactomics technologies would be advantageous.
• Experience in working with bioinformaticians for experimental design, data analysis, and downstream pathway analysis would be a plus.
