The Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center (JCC) is seeking a customer service focused, organized and detail-oriented Scholarship Administrator. This role's primary responsibility is to distribute JCC Scholarship funds for all participating JCC Programs in a confidential, consistent, and timely manner. The Scholarship Administrator is a half-time position that works 20 hours per week. After six months, a Flexible Work Arrangement is available which allows staff to work remotely forty percent of their schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer distribution of scholarship funds: review applications, determine the amount of the scholarship, communicate with the applicant regarding the decision in writing.
- Communicate accepted offers to appropriate financial staff so that scholarship is applied to the applicant’s account at the JCC.
- Track scholarship offers and provide timely reports to associated staff and senior management.
- Provide scholarship information to JCC Development team for use in appeals.
- Update scholarship application forms and reporting as necessary.
- Serve as applicant resource utilizing varied means of communication in a respectful and timely manner.
- Liaison with the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, local synagogues, and other scholarship granting entities to help ensure that applicants are applying for all opportunities and to foster agency cooperation.
- Communicate with applicants in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding applicants and their application materials.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- To assume responsibilities as assigned for JCC special events.
- Actively promotes and practices the organization’s Positive Rules of Communication.
- Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements (KSAs):
- Intermediate level skills with MS Office, particularly MS Word, and Excel, including use of tables, able to query databases and download data for analysis and presentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
- Able to successfully conduct difficult conversations with empathy while maintaining agency perspective and JCC scholarship policy.
- Able to learn and effectively utilize JCC Membership accounting software (CSI), Abila MIP, and CampMinder to obtain data for financial and census reporting.
- Able to maintain confidentiality at all times and in all circumstances.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Education and/or Experience
- Undergraduate degree preferred.
- One to two years administrative experience required.
- One to two years of customer service experience required.
