Crisis Stabilization Services at Horizons Mental Health Center (HMHC) offer 24/7, short-term services, to adult and youth experiencing a mental health crisis with the mission to reduce inpatient hospitalization admissions, reducing the amount of time with law enforcement, and engaging individuals with outpatient treatment to support their needs.
The Crisis Stabilization RN promotes and restores clients’ health by developing day-to-day nursing oversight to the Crisis Stabilization Center, Sunrise House and may assist the Assertive Community Treatment team for home health nursing needs. .

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides health intake and daily health monitoring of clients
- Provides health education to clients and families
- Under the direction of a medical provider initiates standing orders
- Participates in medication administration, evaluation of medication response, management of medication orders, delivery of medication and monitoring including IM medications
- Participates in routine team meetings to discuss consumer needs and action plans
- Audits Medication Administration Records
- Monitors, train and coach staff related to handling and assisting with medications and other health related tasks
- Uses broad based knowledge and/or medical provider consultation to provide counsel and recommendations for clients, family members and other Horizons personnel providing services to consumers.
- Provides rehabilitation and support services under clinical supervision
- Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through techniques that support and achieve positive outcomes
- Utilizes motivational interviewing techniques and trauma informed approaches when delivering services
- Monitors vital signs and side effects of medications
- Advocates for consumers to secure medical care and other community supports through care coordination efforts
- Assists with ordering and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment
- Provides clinical supervision for other community nursing support staff which may include LPN’s, CNA’s, CMA’s, MA’s
- Articulates all service provisions through timely and quality record documentation.
- Completes related activities as assigned by the director
- Requires some on call evenings and weekends as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Working knowledge of criteria used for diagnosis of mental disorders.
- Working knowledge of medical disease processes that may be impacted by mental disorders and their treatments
- Maintains a current broad-based knowledge of the pathophysiology of medical disease processes, psychiatric illness, and psychopharmacology
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- One to three years’ experience working in a behavioral health setting.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- One year or more experience in inpatient or outpatient behavioral health nursing
REQUIRED LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas.
- Healthcare Provider BLS – if BLS is not American Heart Association, AHA BLS is required within three months of hire
- Unrestricted drivers license, clean driving record, and current care insurance coverage
