Job Details:
The Internal Medicine department for the School of Medicine is searching for a Residency Coordinator on the Macon, GA campus.

Responsibilities:
Provides administrative support and daily management to the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Coordinates recruitment (2000+ applications, 100+ interviews/year) and orientation for new residents (11 interns per year); administers the daily operations of the IM residency program (evaluations, scheduling, records - including academic, financial, and personnel records for IM residents). Coordinates accreditation, licensure and regulatory issues related to IM residents. Manages all documentation and credentialing processes required for off-site rotations (i.e. VA rotation, away electives). Represents IM residency program at professional meetings, both on a local and national level.
Qualifications:
Two years of undergraduate college coursework and two years of related administrative support experience, which must include working with databases, are required. In lieu of education, equivalent directly related experience will also be considered. Candidates with a bachelor's degree and/or Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) certification are highly desirable.
Successful candidates must have the following:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and to make decisions in a professional manner.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, including ability to delegate work and oversee follow-through.
  • Familiarity with the National Residency Match Program (NRMP), Residency Review Committee (RRC), Computer Assisted Accredited Reporting (CAAR), Program Information Form (PIF), Accreditation Data System (ADS), Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Survey/Information (ACGME).
  • Broad knowledge of the: Internal Medicine Residency Program annual calendar, recruiting, and accreditation process.
  • Familiarity with the Medical Student Curriculum and annual cycle.
  • Familiarity with issue related to International Medical Graduates (IMGs).
  • A spirit of cooperation, support, and understanding for working with the program director, faculty, chief resident, residents, medical students, and office staff.
  • A willingness to interact colloquially with hospital administration and other departments to carry out the mission of the program.
  • Enthusiasm for the academic and educational environment of residency training.
