PRIMARY DUTY: The Research Librarian / Electronic Resource Management position is a highly collaborative and service-oriented position. The primary role of this position is to serve as the functional expert on the library’s software, systems, and e-resources, which are essential to user access and discovery. The successful candidate will understand and maintain the integration and interoperability of library systems with the campus network infrastructure to provide the campus community with high-quality, seamless, access to library resources. The librarian teaches in the information literacy curriculum, contributes to web services, serves as a liaison to academic departments and specifically online programs, and provides research service, which includes evening and weekend hours.

  • Oversee Electronic Resource Management system and integration of electronic resources. Manage electronic resource access and maintenance throughout the life cycle and track developments of new and changing electronic services and resources. Serve as primary contact for staff training and for troubleshooting with vendors. Gather, analyze, and disseminate database statistics.
  • Serve as liaison to several academic disciplines, specifically online programs, monitor collection development and collaborate with university colleagues on procurement of appropriate materials to support curriculum and research in those areas.
  • Partner with co-workers and academic faculty to deliver general education and subject-specific academic research instruction in-person and online, utilizing course management software, responsive web development tools, and library course guides to create research content for the curriculum and online instructional materials supporting departmental mission and vision for academic achievement.
  • Effectively assist patrons with their research needs through personalized face-to-face and virtual services.
  • Serve on library, institutional, and consortia working groups as necessary.
  • Take an active role in the planning of the library’s annual conference.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: ALA accredited MLS/MLIS
Experience: experience in an academic library setting; demonstrated experience in completing projects in a team environment
Skills: Strong customer service, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; strong analytical abilities, ability to communicate and work well with students, faculty, staff, and vendor representatives; ability to learn to enter brief catalog records; ability to work in a team environment; ability to understand and implement policies and procedures; ability to recognize and edit discrepancies in detailed information.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work within a library setting. Requires availability to work 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday with the possibility of additional hours as needed for special events. Must be able to move throughout the library to provide research assistance. Must be able to move around the campus to deliver instruction to academic department courses in buildings across campus.
