The Research Associate I, Analytical Support Molecular Biology reporting to the Lead Sr. Scientist will support process development and non-GMP manufacturing teams through the execution of molecular biology analytical assays. This individual provides the execution and data analysis of molecular biology analytical test methods to support continued manufacturing process technology improvements and non-GMP rAAV vector release testing. This opportunity will be based in our Research Triangle Park (RTP), North Carolina headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of molecular biology analytical methods such as qPCR, ddPCR, TCID50 etc.
  • Provide analytical testing support for Manufacturing to assist in the analytical characterization of new therapeutic targets and technology improvements.
  • Follow SOPs and document analytical test method procedures.
  • Organize and perform data analysis at completion of each test method.
  • Ensure lab areas are clean, organized and equipment, supplies and raw materials are available for use.
  • Contribute to technical discussions and investigations.
  • Detailed, organized, formal record keeping.
  • Has excellent communication skills and works well in a group work environment.
  • Assist in making routine revisions to SOPs, Batch Records, Analytical Records, Formulation Records and initiate new procedures as applicable.
  • Assist with inventory management of raw materials and analytical test method supplies.
  • Evaluate and summarize analytical results and final reports.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, 1- 3 years of experience of experience in bio-analytical testing, development and technology transfer, preferably in rAAV and/or recombinant protein/biomolecules.
  • Previous experience and/or demonstrated skills with one or more of the following techniques is highly desirable: qPCR, ddPCR, and/or other molecular biology techniques.
  • Knowledge implementing and troubleshooting experiments.
  • Ability to critically analyze problems, develop potential solutions and evaluate impact to the research organization.
  • Ability to assume independent ownership of protocols and experiments.
  • Advanced technical lab skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally, is required.
  • Must have an understanding of statistics and data analysis/interpretation.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) required.

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical manufacturing, regulations, and compliance is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload according to group’s goals priorities.
  • Have a service-oriented and quality mindset/attitude.
