The Receiving Lead will assist with the efficient processing, verification and distribution of received merchandise shipments. The Receiving Lead is also a role model within the unit for abiding by and holding others accountable for company policies and procedures and overall business practices of the BOH. With direction from the Assistant Store Manager of Operations, the Receiving Lead will supervise the Back of House in all functions related to the receipt and processing of merchandise, stocking and organizing merchandise in accordance to company procedures.
The Receiving Lead is also accountable for the accuracy of all in-bound and out-bound communication to the Receiving Manager and Corporate Operations Manager in regards to shipment, inventory and truck deliveries. The Receiving Lead is responsible for maintaining the upkeep of merchandise in the BOH and the safety and cleanliness of the stockroom. The Receiving Lead will assist with the supervision of processing trucks, ensuring the merchandise is received properly and prepared for the sales floor according to company standards.
Receiving Lead Primary Responsibilities
- Support the integrity of the store inventory through proper execution of inventory management policies.
- Ensure the quality and condition of new merchandise meets company standards.
- Ensure the merchandise received matches manifests and/or inventory transfer reports.
- Prepare shipments of outgoing merchandise and/or transfers.
- Communicates with ASM of Operations on new product arrivals, assembly execution and floorset readiness.
- Print and ticket merchandise, returns and price adjustments. Process repairs and damages on a timely basis according to company guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with the Visual Lead and Corporate Visual Team on floorsets and continual replenishment of inventory to create an extraordinary guest experience.
- Assist the ASM of Operations with maintaining inventory controls.
- Assist with the preparation of new merchandise on the sales floor, truck unload, flow of shipment, display assembly, ticketing and stocking tasks for the BOH team.
- Provide clear work direction, training and coaching to the BOH team members regarding the truck process and furniture assembly.
- Assist with analyzing and evaluating staffing and scheduling needs for all truck days and processing trucks, based on projected pallet counts and payroll allocation on a weekly basis.
- Align with the Receiving Manager to track, calculate and report shipment productivity metrics within the store on a weekly basis.
- Provide feedback to the ASM of Operations regarding the team's performance and ability to meet shipment metrics.
- Responsible for stockroom organization and cleanliness, including back stock control.
- Provide excellent guest service by assisting guests in locating, selecting, demonstrating and loading of merchandise.
- Ensure that the guest is the primary focus and all non-selling tasks are secondary. The guest is always our number one priority.
- Be extremely organized with a strong attention to detail, as well as be willing to go above and beyond for our guests.
Store Leadership Responsibilities
- Assist with managerial duties such as opening and closing the store, basic register functions, serving as the Guest Experience Leader (GEL) and performing any other operational task as needed.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and training for Team Members’ productivity and performance.
- Serve as the GEL to provide leadership and direction to Team Members; ensure the team understands the daily financial targets and matrix goals.
- Drive the guest experience and ensure resolution of guest issues.
- Ensure store meets visual, replenishment, cleanliness, safety and Back of House standards during GEL shifts and beyond.
- Assist in holding Team Members accountable for adhering to all company and in-store policies and procedures.
- Assist in providing our Team Members expert coaching and training in selling, product knowledge, visual standards and how to provide an overall exceptional guest experience.
- Provide additional leadership support as needed.
Achieve Sales and Profitability Targets
- Build positive working relationships with the Visual Coordinator, Sr. Manager Merchandise Operations and Store Management team to clarify priorities and share business insights and best practices.
- Manage payroll effectively and achieve sales/payroll goals; efficiently manage all non-selling activities within budget.
- Assess store metrics and team member behaviors to identify strengths and opportunities to maximize store results.
- Responsible for floor leadership activities to drive sales while maintaining extraordinary guest service and visual presentation.
- Build positive working relationships with the ASM of Operations and store team to support the company priorities and share business insights and best practices.
- Efficiently manage all non-selling activities within budget and look for ways to control expenses.
- Work with ASM of Operations on managing delivery costs and payroll targets.
Qualifications/Experience
- College degree preferred or equivalent job experience.
- 3+ years of shipping and receiving experience in specialty retail industry preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and POS systems.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Curious and open to adopting new ways of thinking; eager to learn new skills.
- Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 75 lbs.; climb ladders.
- Physical ability to move large, bulky and/or heavy merchandise.
- Availability to work flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to travel occasionally to support new store openings.
- Ability to continually smile and be genuinely friendly in an environment where guests are the reason we are in business.
