This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. National Aerospace Solutions is a limited liability company comprised of Bechtel National Inc. (as lead company) and Sierra Lobo Inc. with teaming Subcontractors nLogic Inc. and Chugach Federal Solutions Inc. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.
AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground, and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.
Job Summary
With primary duty as the TOS Tour Coordinator working in the Public Affairs group, the Public Affairs Specialist has responsibility for overseeing the tour program supporting the Air Force Public Affairs program at Arnold Air Force Base (AFB). Duties include but are not limited to marketing, coordinating, and giving tours as well as developing agendas and other tour related materials. The Public Affairs Specialist will also support other Air Force Public Affairs objectives by producing written and visual products, which may include development of news releases, photos, graphics, or videos. Additionally, the Public Affairs Specialist may serve in a leadership role in the absence of the Public Affairs Manager.

Job Duties:
- Manages the Arnold AFB Tour Program.
- Markets Arnold AFB to solicit tour participation.
- Coordinates tour requirements and maintains paperwork with tour requestors and on-base personnel.
- Develops tour agenda based on tour types to best meet tour requests.
- Serves as guide on tour and interacts with participants.
- Works with the Arnold Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Coordinator when STEM tours are requested.
- Develops or supports development of on-tour materials, e.g., storyboards, handouts.
- Updates the tour guide booklet as necessary.
- Ensures tour groups follow all tour rules.
- Produces news stories and/or press releases – technical, human interest, feature, public service announcements – as required in support of Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) activities.
- Follows Associated Press and Air Force style guides.
- Follows established security clearance, and release review processes.
- Reviews and edits news stories and/or press releases written by co-workers.
- Produces and edits content for other AEDC and Arnold AFB publications, e.g., fact sheets, brochures, and other special publications.
- Produces high quality, professional photos to document AEDC and Arnold AFB events, occasions, and other activities and writes captions to accompany photos.
- Supports Arnold AFB Disaster and Emergency Response exercises – real world and simulated.
- Produces content for use on the AEDC website and social media platforms.
- May serve as manager in the absence of the Public Affairs Manager.
- Wear company-issued Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Ensures all tour participants follow all PPE requirements as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a similar related field with at least 5-7 years of experience. In lieu of degree in specified field, seven to 10 years of experience as a STEM coordinator or similar role in an educational setting may be considered.
- Current U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong public speaking skills.
- Understanding and knowledge of developing content for websites and social media platforms.
- Knowledge of cameras and photos composition skills.
- Understanding and knowledge of graphic design and video content development.
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Suite programs, e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio
- Knowledge and understating of Adobe Creative Suite programs, e.g., InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom.
- Ability to be flexible and adjust to unanticipated changes.
- Ability to multi-task and deal tactfully with a wide variety of customers.
- Ability to adapt to a challenging environment, manage changing expectations, and handle sometimes stressful situations.
