About the Opportunity
Job Summary
As a member of the EAI Business Development Team, the Proposal Writer contributes to an effective business development development process with potential partners by leading Statement of Work (SOW) and Proposal drafting and management for a range of Sponsored Research and Applied Projects for working with partner companies and organizations. The candidate plays a liaison role between the Business Development (BD) team and various groups leading the projects to ensure the Statements of Work (SOWs) are scoped appropriately. The proposal writer participates in capture and discovery calls with prospective clients and partners to understand business problems. He/She manages contributions of various proposal contributors and is responsible for timely delivery of proposals to clients. Additionally, they contribute to contracting and project set-up.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Three to five years of proposal management and/or writing experience required. Experience in writing commercial proposals or SOWs preferred. Demonstrated ability to create compelling collateral such as decks and one-pagers (design experience helpful). Experience in an academic institution is helpful. Excellent PowerPoint skills. Project Management experience is desired but not required. Experience in a consulting environment is helpful. Grant writing experience a plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
SOW and Proposal Management 70%
- Work with business development and subject matter experts to develop project Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Work with Qualitative Research Team to scope follow-on proposals and SOWs
- Manage the SOWs through the contract signature and project set-up phases
- Manage competitive proposals in response to RFPs
- Oversee contracting with both clients and vendors
- Own pricing of projects using established pricing mechanisms
- Work with the content development team to create marketing support materials such as case studies.
Business Development Support 30%
- Develop pitch decks, one-pagers and supporting collateral.
- Coordinate resources across the Institute and NU to build compelling value propositions and solutions to meet partner’s needs.
- Work with EAI content development team for sales support material such as case studies, whitepapers.
