Job Summary
The Project Manager will be responsible for the ongoing management of the daily operations for the HBCU Global Health Consortium, Zambia project. The Project Manager will assist the Charles R. Drew Team in the planning of activities for the Rise Up! House in Lusaka, Zambia, Africa. The Program Manager will coordinate implementation of the Rise Up! Program, including collaborating with Chawma Hospital and MOH Staff supervising the Rise Up! Program staff, including the Peer Navigators, working with the Hospital’s data management team to ensure integrity of the program data, and clinical and training services. The Project Manager will take a lead role in collaborating with the PI’s to develop training modules for the staff at the additional Rise Up! Sites in YRS 2 & 3. The Project Manager will provide supervision and mentoring to site staff and ensure that they develop into mature programs.
Essential Duties
- Assist with coordination of all protocol and procedure training sessions
- Assist with preparation and submission of grants
- Oversee regulatory compliance issues such as tracking and recording protocol-specific certifications and procedure certification such as Human Subject Protection and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and record Institutional Review Board approvals, etc.
- Travel to Zambia twice of year to evaluate progress of the Rise Up! Houses
- Ensure specifications and source documentation are obtained for all studies from external organizations
- Handle close out of studies
- Coordinate the evaluation of procedures implemented during pilot studies to determine necessary design and logistical changes for main study
- Ensure statistical and data management reports are generated and distributed in a timely fashion
- Schedule, coordinate, and conduct training sessions about project/study
- Develop, design and coordinate production and assist with the distribution of marketing materials for studies
- Oversee updates of manual of operations, data collection forms and websites associated with project/study
- Coordinate meetings, phone conferences, minutes and presentations for multiple projects/studies
- Coordinate project documentation such as conflict of interest and copyright forms for manuscript submissions
- Coordinate required project documentation such as Certificates of Confidentiality and Investigational New Drug Applications and assist with regulatory reports
- Organize, support, and provide follow-up to steering committees and other project sub-committees
- Serve as liaison with internal departments and external entities
- Perform data collection and data entry for studies
- Assist in writing scientific papers for publication
- Train, supervise, assign work and evaluate support staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Proven working experience in project management.
- Experience in higher education, accreditation and healthcare agencies.
- Experience with software technology; strong technical aptitude in working with project management applications.
Minimum Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to use various computer programs to create systems tailored towards the needs of the student affairs office.
- High energy, self-motivated team player.
- Initiative to seek alternative approaches and solutions.
- Proficient and adept with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.
