Position Details

The City of Auburn Engineering division is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Capital Projects team. This opportunity will allow you to be apart of a diverse team, managing the design and construction of a variety of municipal potable water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and transportation related projects.

Primary Duties

In this role, you will:

  • Plans, organizes, and schedules the design and construction work associated with assigned capital public works improvement projects.
  • Retains and monitors engineering consultants relating to the design and construction of capital public works improvement projects.
  • Monitors small to very large capital public works improvement project budgets ensuring that surveying, property acquisition, drafting, design, and estimated construction costs are within budget and schedule constraints.
  • Coordinates with Federal, State, County, and local governmental agencies, railroads, franchise utility companies, private property owners, various community organizations, and other City departments relating to the design and construction of capital public works improvement projects.
  • Develops and reviews capital public works improvement project plans, bid specifications, cost estimates, and contract proposals.

Minimum Qualifications

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR...

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; AND
  • Five (5) years of civil engineering experience

OR

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; A*ND*
  • Professional Civil Engineering License

Engineer In Training Designation OR Professional Civil Engineering License is required, as is a valid driver's license without impending loss at the time of appointment.

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ABOVE EXPERIENCE YOU MAY QUALIFY FOR OUR APPRENTICE PROGRAM ($99,065.76 - $121,775.76/annually):

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering; AND
  • Two years of civil engineering project management experience
