Based in Naugatuck, Connecticut, the Production Planner is responsible for planning, material expediting, and plant floor scheduling in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for communication with cross-functional teams across the organization.

This role actively leads and participates in continuous improvement activities of diverse scope and complexity to improve manufacturing systems and processes. This position proactively monitors work order progress to identify potential problem areas and delivers solutions to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and approve the release of production orders to all manufacturing departments, based on material and capacity availability.
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams to reschedule production in the event of design changes, labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other potential schedule interruptions.
  • Effectively utilize ERP software and other tools that support production planning, capacity planning, and operational management.
  • Track and analyze data to identify, develop, and deliver continuous improvement opportunities to support production, planning, business processes utilizing lean principles.
  • Contact vendors regarding material orders, coordinate transportation for pickup of plastic materials, and order and expedite equipment and materials as required to deliver OTIF to our customers.
  • Support capacity planning at local plant
  • Partner with the Engineering, Maintenance, and Automation teams for support during manufacturing and delivery of product.
  • Support new product development launches as needed.
  • Lead meetings with managers and departmental leaders to communicate production challenges and across the plant.
  • All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requires 3 - 5 years of directly related work experience.
  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain or Operational Management preferred.
  • Demonstrated manufacturing ERP systems knowledge and solid computer skills (using Microsoft Office).
  • Able to analyze, organize and develop reports utilizing data to mitigate problems and identify opportunities.
  • Knowledge of discrete and continuous manufacturing principles and operations.
  • Demonstrated positive interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Forecasting experience a plus.
  • APICS/Lean/Six Sigma certifications are a plus.
