Dauphin County Probation Services (Adult Division) is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Probation Officer I. An employee in this position furnishes oversight, professional guidance, and ongoing counseling to persons assigned to his/her authority. He/she consults with clients' friends, families, and associates; employers; law-enforcement and social-service agencies; and other County Probation professionals, pursuant to composition and fulfillment of respective rehabilitation plans. The incumbent monitors clients electronically, by telephone, and afield; employs his/her personal vehicle as necessary; and prepares regular and special reports to his/her Supervisor and/or the Court, as the latter directs.

This is a caseload of approx. 300 or so people who are on our web-based reporting system through Connectrex. Most cases reside outside of the state and are ineligible to be transferred through ICOTS. The PO monitors the persons special conditions ordered, fines and costs and ensures everything is completed prior to the max date. If not, they are responsible for having violation paperwork served and scheduling a revocation for the offender. These are the main job functions of this caseload. This is a union position.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or qualification in accordance with the Exceptional Person Clause. A valid driver's license and positive driving record and a favorable criminal background check are required.
