Overview
This position offers you the opportunity to make a difference at one of the world's top health and wellness companies as you identify and pursue new research/technology opportunities and technical support for existing products. The person should have minimal of science related degree, direct supervisory experience, and a minimum 8-10 years industry experience in FMCG industry; ideally with Dental Care or Home Care Products.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting technology survey of competitive products to determine market and technology trend. Support with performing competitive physical, chemical and aesthetic tests
- Conduct literature survey to provide sound judgment on efficacy and safety as well as being able to rank the quality of research.
- Assessing potential regulatory, patent and safety issues relating to existing and new formulas.
- Design and perform appropriate tests to support formulas and claims; select and modify appropriate procedures for laboratory evaluation of product samples, perform competitive tests, etc.
- Continuously improving the existing products for cost optimization as well as improving products quality and performance for our consumers.
- Understanding and complying with all relevant good laboratory practices, and maintaining a safe, orderly workplace and accurate, up-to-date records of laboratory work.
- Partnering with R&D, International, Operations and Marketing co-workers in achieving their goals.
- Independently plan, support and make good technical judgment to fulfill project plans and goals.
- Communicating research plans and progress to R&D supervision, coworkers and business counterparts.
- Developing strategy for gaining ownership of intellectual property and for circumventing competitive patents; independently providing support for new patent applications.
- Proposing and demonstrating innovative ideas to R&D management based on external and internal capabilities.
- Continuously updating technical proficiency by studying new science, technical advancement, completive products, new raw materials, and regulations affecting US and other markets.
- Independently prepare documentation on research findings.
- The person should have seamless work relationship with R&D associates and associates from other departments and work efficiently in partnership with turnkey suppliers
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- BS, MS, or Ph. D. in with scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering).
- Formula development experience and track record of developing new products in either Fabric & home care or Personal Care. Experience in developing OTC products and dental products is highly desired.
- 8-10 years of FMCG Experience preferred. Minimum 6 years of relevant job experience plus 3-5 years of other research experience considered. Supervisory & leadership experience a plus.
- Well-founded understanding of either EPA (Home Care) or FDA/ OTC requirements (Dental) regulations.
- Good understanding of product safety testing requirements, product scale up and product consumer evaluation.
- Capable of quickly gaining proficiency in new method, techniques, and technologies.
- Proficient in experimental designs and statistical data analysis.
- Familiar with global regulations, good manufacturing and laboratory practices, product registration and labeling compliance.
- Ability to write reports, patents and SOPs, etc. and to prepares documentation on research findings.
- Ability to develop and utilize laboratory test methods and product use tests to support regulatory and/or product claims.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
