We are looking for a seasoned native iOS engineer who shares our passion for creating next-generation healthcare software that improves the lives of patients, clinicians, and caregivers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a leader and mentor on the iOS team while making significant product contributions at an early stage of development, while continuing to grow your own skill set.
The ideal candidate should have extensive experience building native iOS apps, experience providing technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers, and a strong commitment to software craftsmanship and quality. This person will help influence and drive the architecture, design, and development of our iOS app and should enjoy working in a collaborative environment with product managers, designers, and other engineers.

Job Location
Tendo has hubs in San Francisco, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; and Philadelphia, PA. Candidates may be located in any one of our three hub locations.
Responsibilities
- Help lead the architecture, design, and development of our native iOS app using Swift, a hybrid UI approach using a majority of SwiftUI with some UIKit, and a twirp/RPC networking layer.
- Provide technical leadership to other team members, including mentoring and coaching.
- Help lead and influence the team’s development practices and processes, such as pair and mob programming, code reviews, testing/TDD, and CI/CD to ensure high-quality code that meets our users’ needs.
- Collaborate closely with product management and design to understand our users’ needs and ensure our applications meet those needs in a user-friendly way.
- Stay up to date with the latest iOS development trends and technologies, including new iOS APIs and capabilities, and help lead the team in determining if and how they should adopt them.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field OR equivalent professional experience or software development certification (including boot camp).
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of iOS development experience.
- 3+ years of Swift development experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of iOS development and related technologies.
- Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
- Professional experience with all aspects of deploying a native iOS app to the App Store.
- Familiarity with Git and other version control tools.
- Strong ability to communicate development approaches and plans within and across teams.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a tech or team lead role.
- Experience with:
- Protobufs, gRPC, or twirp.
- SwiftUI, Combine, and async/await.
- MVVM.
- Xcode Cloud, Bitrise, or other cloud-based CI/CD tools.
- Experience working in a startup environment.
- Knowledge of the healthcare industry.
Base Salary Range
$131,750-$178,250
This salary range is offered with the understanding that final compensation is based on a number of factors including geography and experience. Tendo also offers an equity package, annual bonuses, and benefits.
