LOCATION: Marietta, Ohio

PAY: $19.00

SCHEDULE: 8:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday

As a Pre-Release Caseworker, you will review jail bookings each week to determine eligibility based on legal criteria and schedule initial meeting within seven (7) days of determining program eligibility.

Essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to:

Intake:

  • Reviews referral information, background information, and collateral data prior to initial meeting with the client.
  • Administers or utilizes a current quantitative assessment of clients’ risk and criminogenic needs, including: criminal history, education/employment/financial, family/social support, neighborhood problems, substance use, peer associations, and criminal attitude/behavior patterns.
  • Enters Ohio Risk Assessment System (ORAS) results into Gateway and Oriana Resource Information and Operations Network (ORION) in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Identifies clients’ barriers to successful program completion. Responds to barriers such as: age, education level, medical, mental health, transportation, housing etc.
  • Completes and/or reviews intake/release packets.
  • Completes enrollment documents in an accurate and timely manner and forwards same to appropriate supervising authority/court.

During Placement:

  • Meets with clients regularly and in accordance with program policies and procedures.
  • Is knowledgeable and utilizes community resources and refers clients to the appropriate community providers based on identified needs in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Obtains and maintains consent to release of information with appropriate agencies to monitor clients’ compliance.
  • Monitors clients’ compliance and progression with program conditions in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Utilizes Role Clarification and Core Correctional Practices (CCP) Skills in accordance with program policies and procedures
  • Types and maintains correspondence, reports, and other documents as necessary in an accurate and timely manner.

Release:

  • Prepares clients for release from the program with appropriate and approved Community Plan.
  • Completes appropriate release of information forms as required for making a referral and/or releasing information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensures post-tests and/or exit evaluations are completed prior to client’s release.
  • Completes file closing procedures in a timely manner and submits all closed files to supervisor for review and approval.
  • Enters data accurately from various forms into the client database and follows up with corrections of any found errors in a timely manner.
  • Prepares final report per program guidelines and submits to referral source.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Corrections, or related field required.
  • Six (6) months experience in Corrections and/or Social Service preferred.
  • Must obtain and maintain required level of proficiency for the ORAS as certified by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in partnership with the University of Cincinnati. Failure to do so means the employee is not qualified to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and be detail-oriented.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must possess reliable transportation, a valid Ohio driver’s license, and a driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population
  • Must be willing to undergo backgrounds checks and pass a drug screen
