Job Description
The Materials Science, Chemistry and Computer Science group at the National Renewable Energy lab has an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher. This position will contribute toward the development of CdTe- based photovoltaic windows within a larger team that includes industry and academic partners. The primary role of the researcher will be to use multiphysics simulation tools to model thermal stresses and carry out accelerated testing and field experiments to evaluate the durability of photovoltaic windows.

Basic Qualifications
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
  • Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

Preferred Qualifications
Specific skills of interest include:
  • Experience with Comsol, Ansys, or equivalent Multiphysics modeling tools for modeling thermal transport
  • Knowledge on experimental design, data acquisition, and data interpretation
  • Background in semiconductor physics or photovoltaic devices
  • Ability to learn new techniques and protocols
  • Communicate scientific results effectively, both in written and oral formats
  • Author peer-reviewed publications
  • Work effectively in a large, multidisciplinary teams
  • All skills are not required.
  • In general, candidates should have a demonstrated track record of success in addressing fundamental and applied science questions and devising solutions to challenging problems.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Postdoctoral Researcher / Annual Salary Range: $71,300 - $117,600
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
