Tropical Shipping is seeking a Signal Person to join our team of professionals in our West Palm Beach, Florida location!

This is an entry-level job

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, accountability, a solid work ethic and commitment to excellence.

This role is responsible for providing precise and clear directional signals in loading and discharging vessels

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Provides guidance for safe and proper crane operation using approved hand signals
• Ensures deck gear is set up according to stowage
• Assists in rigging of special lifts both ashore and aboard vessels
• Operates forklift to move containers and other cargo
• Performs shipside support for handling lines and setting gangways
• Drives and operates equipment, machinery and automobiles into hold or deck of ships
• Prepares support equipment check sheets daily and hands in weekly
• Performs other duties as required

Educational Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience Requirements:

• Must have valid Driver's License
• Certified to operate a forklift (preferred, but not required)

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to twist, bend, reach, squat, kneel, climb on equipment
• Push and/or pull 50 pounds
• Able to withstand constant exposure to extreme weather conditions
• Must pass Department of Transportation physical
