We are looking for a Play Therapy Children’s Counselor to join our dedicated team of trauma-informed professionals in our newly constructed state-of-the-art facility located on 77 pristine acres. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Play Therapy Children’s Counselor will support the growth of our early childhood services and facilitate play therapy sessions with young children and support their parents and guardians.
HOURS
As a contract position, hours are flexible with options for one or more days per week with scheduling flexibility. Limited telehealth opportunities may also be available. This position is currently posted as a contract therapist (a salaried position with benefits is also possible at this time).
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in counseling or clinical social work with documented play therapy training. Texas professional licensure in good standing: LMSW, LCSW, LPC-A, LPC, or LMFT. RPT (Registered Play Therapist) and/or coursework and advanced training in child-centered play therapy is preferred. Additional training or certification in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, is preferred.
PROFESSIONAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Individual play therapy sessions utilizing trauma-informed, evidence-based methods
- Parenting consultations (training or certification in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, is preferred)
- Timely completion of client records including clinical assessments, individualized treatment plans, progress notes, and use of assessment software to evaluate progress.
- Communication with caregivers and other service providers as necessary regarding progress and treatment.
- Other duties as assigned by Executive Director or Program Director
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant will have exemplary clinical skills and specialized training utilizing trauma-informed and evidence-based modalities, including play therapy.
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience is preferred, but not required.
- RPT (Registered Play Therapist) certification in good standing, or actively working towards RPT certification, preferred
- Requires ability to prioritize, multi-task, and use sound judgment in making clinical decisions
- Requires high attention to detail and exemplary follow-through
- Requires excellent interpersonal skills, including working with a team of mental health professionals
- Requires a self-motivated and driven individual with excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Excel, and other Microsoft programs, and ability to quickly learn processes and use of new software
