Pipeline Integrity Analyst Job at Kinder Morgan
Responsible for development, and continuous improvement, of all existing Field Integrity related processes, procedures, and documentation within the Kinder Morgan. These processes and documentation are associated with Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) and evaluation of anomalies normally identified by integrity assessment methods, and include but are not limited to: NDE client requirements profile, In-line Inspection (ILI) validation, anomaly Root Cause analysis, anomaly remediation, and Pipeline Examination Report (PER).
The primary duties of this role are as follows:
- Provide continuous improvement to Field Integrity processes and procedures including but not limited to:
- Review of service provider technical performance and subsequent troubleshooting
- Coordination of Best Practice workshops with service providers as required
- Perform service provider audits for both in-ditch technicians and QA/QC office personnel
- In-Line Inspection tool validation
- Field Integrity associated software and databases
- Evaluation of new NDE techniques/technologies and confirmation that existing technologies are fully leveraged
- Develop and maintain Field Integrity process documentation including but not limited to:
- Service provider client profiles that detail required deliverables and timing
- In-ditch excavation worksheets
- Anomaly evaluation guidelines and corrosion assessment
- Root Cause comparator
- Pipeline Examination Report including associated business rules and workflow
- Provide detailed QA/QC of documentation and deliverables provided by NDE service providers for compliance with company defined processes and procedures including:
- Confirm company provided all required information to NDE service provider prior to project commencement
- Ensure correct location/anomaly was examined with consideration to ILI performance specifications
- Confirm proper application of Root Cause Analysis process and correct classification of anomaly Root Cause
- Review for application of company approved pipeline repairs and coatings
- Review for complete and accurate documentation in the company defined format
- Collaboration with both NDE service provider and company personnel to provide technical direction and assistance as needed on field integrity processes, including but not limited to NDE techniques normally performed for the purpose of evaluating anomalies reported by In-Line Inspection tools or identified from direct assessment projects
- Weekly monitoring of Field Integrity project status and reporting including number of projects started, projects completed, reports delivered, and reports outstanding
- Develop and maintain metrics on company and service provider performance related to Field Integrity processes
- Periodic evaluation of service provider pricing, and confirmation of competitive market rates related to level of service provided
- Provide relevant Field Integrity data, or ensure access to relevant data, to close feedback loop for ILI group on ILI tool validation, Risk group on pipeline threats, and annual regulatory reporting
- Coordinate training events, and prepare associated training material, for company personnel and service providers on established Field Integrity processes and procedures
- Provide support to other company groups as needed such as Field Integrity Services, Risk Engineering, In-line Inspection, Pipeline Data Systems, Engineering, Operations, etc.
- Participate in industry associations and consortiums such as INGAA, PRCI, and others as requested
- Perform pipeline integrity or other tasks as needed
- Represent company in regulatory interactions as needed

Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Equivalent work experience may be considered)
- Strong effective, timely, clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with logical thought processes
- Ability and willingness to perform all essential functions of the position including those listed above
- Demonstrated ability to develop and refine processes
- Ability and willingness to understand and implement all company/job related processes, procedures, guidelines and best practices
- Ability and willingness to coordinate projects and programs with field operating personnel, project engineers, and outside entities
- Must be accountable and manage activities to keep required work schedules, focus attention to details, and follow company policies and procedures
- Strong focus on safe work practices and active participation in the safety program
- Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work independently
- Ability to successfully work in team environment with a focus on both internal and external customers
- Demonstrated initiative and adaptability to manage multiple work tasks and changing priorities
- Fundamental knowledge of pipeline integrity threats and their associated mechanisms
- Demonstrated ability to effectively train personnel
- Fundamental knowledge of pipeline integrity assessment methods including in-line inspection tools and their respective capabilities and limitations including ability to interpret in-line inspection tool specifications
- Ability to interpret industry and company standards and procedures and a fundamental understanding of NDE tools and techniques for evaluating pipeline anomalies
- Ability to develop, refine and present effective presentations
- Strong computer skills including but not limited to: advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn Microsoft Access or other data query tools
- Maintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performance
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers
- Subject to PHMSA compliant drug testing program
