Medical Physician

We arecurrently recruiting for two (2) Full-TimePhysicians (Internal Medicine/Family Practice Physicians). Our 24 hour in-patient facility serves adolescent, adult, deaf and geriatric patients. The primary purpose of the Physician position is to render medical care to physically ill patients in a hospital setting. This individual must be able to physically respond to code blue or other emergencies. On-site services are available for the pharmacy, dentistry, physical and occupational therapy, dietary, laboratory, and radiology.
The normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, including On-Call as scheduled.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Providing medical services to assigned caseload and making daily rounds on assigned units.
Assessing and evaluating the physical findings, laboratory and radiographic studies, and any other studies and consultations and translating those evaluations into orders and other communications to staff.
Directing ongoing management of medical conditions throughout the patients' hospitalization.
Completing patient history and physical assessments.
Responding to and participating in the management of medical emergencies for all client groups experiencing acute medical decompensation.
Collaborating with treatment teams to effectively exchange medically significant information and taking a leadership role in creating treatment plans.
Providing services to Employee Health such as treatment of medical emergencies and clearance of employees to return to work after illness, as needed.
Supervising Physician Extenders directly under this position's license and co-supervising other remaining Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners.
This position is designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

***Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies
Graduation from an accredited school of medicine and completion of residency
Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in NC
Management prefers candidate with the following:
Board Certification by American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Practice.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.
