Job Title: Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma, graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program

Experience: 1-3 Years preferred
Required: License/Certifications/ Current Pennsylvania Physician Assistant license.

Job Summary

Works closely with all of the physicians at the practice, contributing to the physician's effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues that must be addressed, providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommending options and courses of action; implementing physician directives both on an inpatient and outpatient basis.

Performs consultations, follow-up rounds, hospital admissions, and discharges, all in conjunction with collaborating physicians.

Will assist in discharging patients from the hospital, writing prescriptions as necessary, and ensuring appropriate follow-up care is arranged.

Prescribes medications as set forth in Schedule B of the Employment agreement.

Consults with and refers to Collaborating Physician and specialty physicians as necessary

Performs therapeutic measures and procedures, performs and or orders laboratory tests as provided

_Inpatient hospital _

InPatient Medical records will reflect proper notation as subjective data, objective data, diagnostic impressions and treatment plan.

All notations shall be documented in a clear and concise manner and meet all appropriate compliance regulations.

All lab, radiological and other diagnostic tests, consultations and medications prescribed shall be documented in the patient’s medical record.
Problems lists shall be utilized to document problems noted.

HIPPA regulations will be followed at all time.

Serves as a collaborating provider, with physician of record in the identified outpatient office, as assigned.

Serves as an independent provider, under the clinical guidelines as determined by US Digestive Health

Outpatient Office

Assesses patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating and studying medical histories.

Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, ECG’s, and laboratory studies as necessary.

Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records

Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; managing wounds and infections.

Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Provides continuity of care by developing and implementing patient management plans.
