JOB TITLE: Personal Property Appraiser

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: Performs intermediate skilled technical work in listing and assessing of personal property for tax purposes and related work as apparent. List and assess personal property including motor vehicles, boats, trailers, mobile homes. Processes listings. Assigns value and tax districts to registered motor vehicles. Reviews edits for accuracy. Accepts, processes and review applications for the Present Use Program, calculates acreage to be granted, prepares worksheet for real property PUV landlines, performs random reviews to ensure guidelines for the program continue to be met. Calculates rollbacks. Presents appeals of PUV to appropriate boards when necessary. Processes, gathers and reviews various paperwork, records and reports. Assists with customer service inquires.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Must obtain North Carolina Department of Revenue Personal Property Appraiser certification within one (1) year of hire.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED and one to three years experience working in data entry or maintenance role, clerical, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
