Peer Recovery Specialist- 2nd Shift Job at Maryville, Inc.
This individual’s responsibility is to help recovering clients from relapsing and promoting long term recovery. This person may assist with building sober networks, helping achieve stable housing and employment, and teaching effective problem solving skills. This individual will help clients rebuild their lives by helping them to achieve stability in their substance use, mental illness, HIV/HCV, housing, employment, education, social connectivity, and other national outcome measures for substance use. In addition, this person may provide early intervention and re-engagement into treatment for clients living in the community who are in early relapse stages of controlled substances.
Essential Function
- Increases access to evidence-based treatment for clients of New Jersey with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders.
- Meets with the clients for coaching at least weekly during the first six (6) months and then monthly in the remaining six (6) months.
- Provides education and awareness with substance use disorders.
- Provides recovery support for clients throughout their continuum of care and into the community for up to one year.
- Provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) social skill interventions, and support for patients to gain the necessary adaptive skills to be successful in recovery.
- Assists the clients implement their recovery plans, connects them to services and self-help groups, and supports positive behavioral change.
- Helps clients cope with stressful situations that could lead to relapse.
- Assists clients progress through the stages of change to alter high-risk behaviors, model effective problem solving skills, and provide on-going monitoring.
- Stay in engaged with clients and provide support where needed.
- Develop and collect project data plan.
- Implement GPRA at intake, discharge, and at the six (6) month mark of recovery.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Requirement
- Education/Licensure: Associates Degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience working in a drug treatment non-profit environment with demonstrable results.
- Driving: Valid driver’s license and car insurance is required. An MVR check will be completed.
- Sobriety: If recovering, must have at least two (2) years of continuous sobriety and maintain sobriety throughout employment.
